Can my employer extend my trial period?

Ive been working on a health and beauty spa for 4 months but has not yet been given a contract permanent. My friend who works there said that his probationary period was extended because it was not selling products to customers. Can employers to do that? Are they allowed to remain in a probationary period, as no sale? Besides selling products I am a very good job for my boss does not have excuse for wanting rid of me. What should I do?

Hey there! Unfortunately this is correct. The same thing happened to me in my graduate work after leaving the University. Originally a period of 3 months of testing was expanded to a month to 6 because I was not achieving goals (goals that were unattainable Now I know, but I was naive).
